I am the 8th grade School Counselor! I am working in our science classrooms with my 8th graders on the Science of Well-being from Yale University. We will also be doing some discussion boards in their ELA classroom. I will post more information for our students in the 8th grade Schoology group.

Students expressing suicidal ideation at school are screened using the Columbia screener.

Here are some healthy interventions to use at home including mindfulness and calming strategies.
Here are some resources for your family including a list of food pantries, check-ins with your child and a family schedule template that you may use.
All middle school students take four core classes each year of Middle School including Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies. There are three elective periods. Classes such as Gifted, AVID and Intensive Reading/Math may be scheduled instead of an elective.
High School graduation options-English and Spanish.

High School Credit Courses-If you student is enrolled in a High School Credit Course, you will receive a letter the first week of school. You MUST sign and return the letter within the first 10 days of school for your child to remain in this course.
Schedules
Students scoring a level 1 or 2 on the FSA (in Manatee County) will be placed in intensive reading and/or math. Students with a failing grade in a core course will be placed into Credit Recovery.
